NEW ON ANGELO'S LIST: We have updated our main global music page, www.angeloslist.org, and this week feature these new bands who have connected with Real News Network off our MySpace profile page. If you would like to have your music included or even write and review your favorite independent artists for us on a regular basis, please drop us a line off our message board. Feel free to use our free services to promote great music anytime you feel the urge. All we ask is that you click on a few of our sponsors or download a tune every now and then from some of our friends. Peace and harmony, AMBIII

MARVEL HILL: Simply the best rock music I have ever heard come out of Spain, like REM meets Pearl Jam, and then again fusing something totally enlightening and unique from the band’s stated vision of “four guys set on creating original material, inspired by eclectic modern and alternative rock of the last 30 years. “ Masterly marvelous.

SARAH BETTENS: A lovely addition and a wonderful surprise friend request from a truly great talent. This enthralling international alt-rocker is currently releasing her second solo album, Shine, which was produced by Brad Wood (Sunnyday Real Estate, Placebo, Smashing Pumpkins, Ben Lee). This highly anticipated new release is the follow up to her hugely successful debut solo effort Scream, which earned her the 2006 European Border Breakers Award for Best New Artist. You can check out her great voice and music here.

ZERO TO LAUNCH: From Delaware, this hard rocking band formed in January of 2007 with a sonic sound that harkens to the heart of bands like Soundgarden. The kind of music that makes you stand up and take notice from start to finish.

CARDiAK: Poignant rap/hip hop production from Philadelphia, CARDiAK has risen from a mix master to an original voice with his second CD of amazing material. Check out his great commentary on the music business, “The Show Must Go On.” Awesome, like the “Radio, Radio” of its time and place.

FAT DOG HEAVY: A rockabilly rollicking ride from our friends from Seattle. Showing an amazing diversity in influences and proving once again that our hometown is some mighty fertile soil for creative rock n’ roll bands of all persuasions.

REZOUND: These Christian rockers from Mesa, Arizona have a very listenable rocking sound that reminds a bit of Live, and proves once again that rock touches all sorts of lives in ways we can barely begin to comprehend. Wonder what Keith Moon would think?

MICHELLE SHAPROW: Soulful and sensual, Michelle Shaprow has a unique style that touches on 60s soul, 70s Disco, 80s funk, electronica, hip hop, rock, jazz, the full package. Great to dance to, great to listen to, great to drive to, don’t miss Michelle now before she really takes off to new horizions.

REAL NEWS ABOUT . . . THE DEMISE OF SEATTLE MUSIC

EDITOR’S NOTE: What an honor and a privilege tonight to be given the task of editing the words of one of the holiest men on this earth, the Dalai Lama. As AMBIII’s real editing job is for a real newspaper covering the Dalai in Seattle this week, tonight’s assignment was to edit and even paraphrase some of the direct question and answer interviews our reporter and others but to the great spiritual leader. You can read the full interview at www.seattlepi.com.

Dear Dominique,

From the days when we were much younger and danced upon the city of Seattle with some regularity, I am now happy to report that the previous national media stories about the death of the Seattle music scene are sadly mistaken.

In fact, Seattle music is now just beginning to come alive like never before, and I am a witness to the new movement as sure as we once wandered through the gates of the Soundgarden into the Nirvana of our days, just as Mother Love Bone gave death and birth to Pearl Jam, so to has a new music full of life and soul and essential spirit begun to rise from the city once again.

I only wish you were here to enjoy it with me, so I will take you on a virtual reality tour of my Friday Night out with a band of Real News Network correspondents and our technical crew.

KRISTI NELSON: First up, Jake, Paul, Ann, Casey and I all met up in Shoreline to hear Kristi Nelson perform before a small crowd at the Hotwire Coffee Shop. Now every time I take someone new to hear Kristi or introduce them to her music, it is like a rapture occurs, a transformation of the heart. Everyone who hears her wants to spread the word like it is the long-lost gospel of love.

There is so much I can say about Kristi, and I was lucky enough to get to meet her father, a holistic healer and teacher and author, who arrived just as her hour and a half set was ending. Her dad is so full of life and exudes a vibrancy that resonated deep within me the moment I shook his hand and he thanked me for trying to help Kristi realize her musical dreams and visions and turn them into reality.

After all, that’s what Real News is all about. And the real news about Kristi is that when she was a teenager, she wrote the amazing song, “Mama Will Hold Me Now,” which was one of the more chilling 9/11 tribute songs ever written – from a daughter’s perspective upon losing her father in the terrorist attacks -- and a song that if you Google or check out on YouTube, has already touched more lives in a positive way than any song AMBIII has ever conceived of in dreams, visions or reality!!! She is truly blessed and we are all blessed to have her as our friend.

REAL NEWS FRIDAY INTERLUDE: After her show, Paul and Jake and Ann and I all went for Chinese Food and no one could talk about anything else but the songs and the performance they had just witnessed like it was a landmark or a watershed of music they would never forget. I just know Kristi will make so much more music that people will never forget , and it is a true honor -- like being able to edit the Dalai Lama’s words – to be able to help her in any way possible. With the night being young, we then rejoined Casey to see some friends of his in a band known as Massy Ferguson, featuring a lead singer and songwriter who used to be a P-I sports stringer, just like Casey. Casey plays bass and guitar in Real News Network, and also is a technical wiz with the camera. He also used to hang around the Bellingham music scene for several years, even performing with a band and others doing open-mic shows with the likes of a young Brandi Carlile, Laura Veirs and the Decemberists – all now national recording acts. He was so smitten with Kristi, he told how he had watched Brandi and Laura in their early days and “Kristi is way better than either one of them right now. And that cover of Tori Amos’ Winter that she did is way better than even Tori’s version. I went home and listened to them both side by side and Kristi’s kicks ass over the Tori Amos original!”

MASSY FERGUSON: Casey was already stoked inside the Sunset and Massy Ferguson couldn’t have been better, with a wonderful following and happy spirits all around with their upcoming CD release party (May 10) at the Tractor Tavern in Ballard coming up. The band reminds me of the BoDeans or the Wallflowers, some of The Replacements, even Wilco, and the songwriting is something that even harkens back to the great songs of The Band. They have a truly rooted sense about their rock n’ roll and a great energy live that only now is starting to really show in their recordings, which you can find on their MySpace page --http://www.myspace.com/massyferguson -- along with a calendar of their upcoming performances, should you want to put your dancing shoes on again some day.

Now I don’t know many other cities, and I have been to most of them in this country, where you can spend a grand total of $7 on some of the best original music being made anywhere on earth at this very moment, and then spend the rest of the night talking to the very people who made the music to begin with, even visit with their parents and close friends.

The conversation rises with the music and the world in Seattle just seems right with the Dalai Lama and all. People preaching demise and decay and dislocation are truly false prophets of doom and denial. This music is more uplifting than anything I have ever heard, anywhere, at any time. And I am just a lucky man to have Real News Network to spread the word. Keep on rocking. I hope you will join me on this new road some day, too. There is far more ahead and the sounds and sights are better than ever!!! Peace and harmony, AMBIII

REAL NEWS ABOUT RECORDING YOUR SONGS:

AMBIII and Real News Network began first and foremost as a home recording project – I used to call it Closet Rock – where the goal was to complete demos of the 75 or so songs I have written over the past two decades of my life.

Having a steady REAL job as a newspaper reporter/editor/blogger, etc., I realized that the true way to reach and build an audience for my music was through the Internet, a fully worldwide web of awaiting music fans and friends that has grown with each step I have taken to improve the sound and production of the music.

As a journalist, I see clearly that it is possible to reach as many people with my music now in one day as I can reach with the stories I edit each night, only the message has distinctly different audiences and entirely opposite intents and purposes. Truly, if I toured the country playing every dive bar on earth, I could not reach more creative friends and fans than I can in one week with connections on the Web.

By trial and error, experience and humble stumbling, I have found several keys to making great music, or aQuantcastt least passable Blog Rock, on my sites, RealNewsNet.Net, AngelosList.org, TheRealBlog, our Yahoo 360 site, our MySpace site, and now Facebook, too.

In the next several weeks I'd love to hear from others who have been doing their own recording and posting on the Web. What works for you, what doesn't?

First, I have found, you need a great place to store and present your music. For my money, which is not much, I have gone with ReverbNation, which I believe has the best artist showcase features and the most dependable media players out there. The Tune widgets give you several amazing choices to set up your songs, the downloading is easy, it manages all the stats on exposure, plays, and you can create banners or links to all the other great artists on the site.

We are thinking about updating our own look and features on the site now and would appreciate any advice or suggestions with how to make it better.

Lately, you can visit our home at ReverbNation and hear some of the new demos we're working on, including more of a roots-rocking sound with lyrics that truly have a bit of a bite to them. Technically, we have moved up to recording some live takes along with our digital studio recordings, and have been fiddling with a new M-Audio FastTrack Pro-Audio setup that has yet to have all the bugs worked out.

Sometimes it seems in the computer recording world, simple gear makes recording so much easier to accomplish, especially when the sole purpose is to truly present the soul and spirit of the song.

Simply put, the main thing I have learned in computer recording is just that – never let it take away from the soul and the spirit with which a song is born and blessed with from the beginning.

Hope you enjoy our latest tunes and then hop over to Angelo's List and visit some of the friends making great independent music around the Globe. Have a rockin' fine weekend; Peace and harmony, AMBIII

down your spine just to hear her songs soar into your senses. I can listen to Carrie all day and
night long!!!

a flower that will blossom with each song she sings. A musical visit that will always leave you

Rollicking ride from Houston.

sweet and sensual voice here at Angelo's List of Angels.

Marty Casey and Lovehammers: This power pop band from Chicago can rock
and fill up a wall of great guitars. A great addition with a CD out soon.

Jared Clifton: For my money, the best voice and true songwriting spirit in this
fine Emerald City rests here with the road-wise songs of Jared Clifton, a true man
of music right to the soul.

Elvis Costello: Our favorite Man out of Time of all time!!! Nothing more needs to be said
except we have been with him from the start, that time he turned on the white noise to clear the
Paramount after blistering the place with "What's So Funny About Peace, Love and
Understanding."

times, with soaring riffs.

I'll Be the Canadian: German hip hop/rap with an ambient sort of twistedness.

In Absentia: Wild, exploratory, wide open progressive metal jazz for lack of
a term that defines the undefinable. A great journey begins here.

Infamous: Awesome Seattle rock from Dawn Lindsey with words and melodies from Henry
Cheng. Love the soul in Dawn's vox.

Innersky: Enchanting and enthralling rock in the European tradition, very Brian Eno -like in
some of the grooves. From Paris and other places we'd like to visit.

Mike Isenberg: Formerly of The Jets, Mike still rocks out with convincing authority and is a
wonderful host at his site here.

J Brown: Awesome urban tales come alive with our Seattle brother making kick-ass new
soul music that demands to be heard

J Leron: Amazing singer from Rochester, New York, bringing sweet new R&B sounds and
hip hop grooves together into something totally engaging and refreshing. Totally cool.

Jewel: Yes, she is a Jewel in every way: as a songwriter, singer and beautiful woman, heart
and soul. We are happy to listen and linger, always.

Diana Jones: Beautiful voice of heartfelt country and folk roots that blossom into a
wonderful ride that seems timeless and ageless. Love the song about the corrupting powers
of the radio.

Juliette and the Licks: Taking the all the great influences of the Los Angles sounds of
yesterday and kicking them right back in your face with some of the best power-pop and sassy
rock there is being made today. Flat out, a joy ride. (CATCH THEM LIVE OCT. 1 ON THE CRAIG
FERGUSON SHOW)

Amanda Kaletsky: Beautiful voice from the East Coast and her powerful lyrics just seem
to soar in her amazing pacing. Uplifting and gracious.

The Kax: From Los Angeles, this band will thoroughly engage with a Californiacation-like
sound and a feel sort of like Echo and the Bunnymen with LA tans. Very cool grooves and
layered guitar sound. Love Summertime Daze as a great song for the season.

King of Ga.: Hip-hop rappers from the south with a message of breaking through to the
other side.

King Superbia: From Zurich, Switzerland, this group features dreamy, Tom Waits-like
vocals, with a jazz-blues background that dances along in a nice groove.

Mark Lanegan: OK, I'll forgive him for not showing up that night at the Showbox where his
hometown crowd would have been happy with just a song or two. Great voice, songwriter,
storyteller, keeping true to his roots. Ellensburg rocks hard, for sure.

Last Campfire: Real music for the heart and soul, rock, country, blues, folks,
true music for frolicking in front of a last campfire on a windswept cliff above the
ocean.

Tamara Lewis: Such a sweet, soulful voice from this understated talent from our
hometown here in Seattle. Sure to brighten any morning.

The Like: Maybe the best girl group to come out since the Go Go's, with the daughter of Pete
Thomas (he the drummer of The Attractions of Elvis Costello fame) on drums here, giving the
tiny sounds a big-ass beat to go with tight-ass melodies that drive right into your heart.

Little Steven's Underground Garage: The best radio show ever!!! And a great figure in
music over the past three decades. Steve is our favorite guitar hero with Bruce, a voice of
amazing solo songs that deserve far more play, a great actor in our favorite show, The
Sopranos, and this site is the best music site out there aside from Real News Network.
Everyone should visit here often.

Brendan Losch: Singer/songwriter from Chicago, with tunes that take you traveling through
a charming world of contemplative imagination. Wilco-like opening song on his page.
